NEOM

Watch a giga-project being built.

The client

Branch built a web portal with spatial visualisation at its centre rather than bolted to the side. Live camera feeds from the sites stream into the interface, a comparison tool sets any two timeframes against each other, and the capture history the cameras have been accumulating is turned into timelapses on its own. Around that sits the scalable web framework carrying the regional project pages, the renders and the routes an enterprise investor uses to make contact.

NEOM is Saudi Arabia’s giga-project on the Red Sea coast: a region being built from nothing as a test of what a city can be, organised into flagship developments that each carry their own identity and their own audience.

The challenge

Construction at this scale is spread across sites that are remote from almost everyone with a reason to watch them, and a quarterly photo set is not an answer: stakeholders need to see what is happening now and measure it against what was there before. That meant getting live hardware on the ground into a browser without the latency that makes a feed unwatchable, and presenting master plans and progress over time at a resolution where the detail survives, for an audience spread across the world on every class of device.

What we built

  1. Live onsite camera integration

Direct integration with the live camera hardware on the sites, so a stakeholder views active construction across NEOM’s regions in real time from the portal rather than waiting on a report.

  2. Temporal imagery comparison

Split-screen and overlay tools built into the application for setting imagery from any two custom timeframes against each other, which is how a construction milestone is actually evaluated.

  3. Automated timelapse generation

Aggregation of the historical capture data into timelapses generated automatically, turning a camera archive nobody would scrub through into a view of development velocity.

  4. Regional pages and stakeholder routes

A scalable web framework hosting dynamic pages per project region with high-resolution 3D renders, and direct enquiry channels for enterprise investors.

Results

  • Changed how internal and external stakeholders see NEOM’s progress, with site transparency that no longer depends on travelling to the site.

  • Long-term development velocity made legible, through comparison across timeframes and generated timelapses rather than isolated snapshots.

  • Real-time video streaming and dynamic image rendering optimised for global traffic, on desktop, high-resolution displays and mobile.

Integrations

  • On-site live feed cameras
  • CRM
  • NEOM internal infrastructure
